Engine Mount Issues

so my car has been off the road for the past 3 weeks having some servicing done.... and in the process we realized that my rear mount was beyond stuffed.

Ordered 2 inserts to replace front and rear from Meek... got the bf to push the old ones out... then went to press the new inserts in only to realize the rear one is the wrong part and is slightly too small. Was told we could probably hold it in with a few small welds, but i wanted to see if meek could get fix their stuff up and get the right part instead. Turns out they sold the last one today and wont be getting any new ones in. They said Mitsubishi doesn't have them in stock either so they would have to order from Japan and that would be another 3 weeks away... with them yet to tell me at what extra cost this would be.

So my options are to send back the wrong part and wait another 3 weeks without my car, for the right part to hopefully come from Japan.

or give welding it into the bracket a go... My bf recons he'd go with trying out the welding... so im more inclined to try that for now.

Any opinions? or anyone miraculously have a spare rear insert handy??? :?

also try rego , supercheap , autobarn ect ect they may have one in stock might cost you a bit more but means you wont have to wait

Yeah, I'd just tack a few small welds around it.

What they've done (obviously sent the wrong insert) is supply you with the early Evo rear ones - which are exactly that, a half a mm smaller in diametre than the later models.

Ah, I thought my case was bad, 1 week each time I put my car in for 100k servicing + leaks and all 4 engine mounts replaced, for a total of 2 wks.

You got it worse :)

If it starts screeching for a little bit, during start-up of the engine about 2-3 weeks later, ask your bf to tweak the aircon belt a little.
