Speaker grills

Has anyone who has replaced the factory speakers been able to adapt the new grills? The grills which came with my Alpines are just lying around at the moment, but I'm wondering if it's possible to do a custom job on the rear parcel shelf and the front doors in order to fit them in a neat way.

What's wrong with using the existing FTO grills, why do you want the aftermarket ones?

U can use the Alphine grills but they probably have to be modified. I just dont see the point becuz it would cost you a fair bit of money, second of all why would u want to advertise to theives what u have in yr car?? i have high end speakers installed on mine and i love having them hidden in the factory speaker positions with the factory grills. :)

Yeah, I absolutely agree. But I think the factory ones are a little flimsy and might be contributing to some vibrational noise.

I might just leave it the way it is.

I can correspond to that as I have taken my rear parcel shelf and the speaker grills out twice now to try and remove the vibrations, to no avail.

AND I know that it's coming from there, cos i've listened to it while in the back seat while my gf was driving 4 me.

Has any 1 one painted the grills? btw.

Have you guys tried taking off those metal things that are screwed into the grill.. b/c thats where a lot of my vibrations where coming from, although if u take them out your going to have to find a way to cover the holes that are left behind.

yes my grills do giv a lot of vibrational noise , buts thats also becuz ive broken them 3 times now! :P
with 3 x 12" subs in the boot i cant be bothered repairing them again. what i have realised though, everytime i have taken the grills off to be repaird, at very high volumes i can hear a slight vibrational noise and that cant be avoided. :(
i doubt u will get that though.
