these issue might be related...
1. When car/engine is cold mostly just mornings it will surge slighlty for about a minute or two then back to normal..almost like throttle struggles for a minute or two. had stepper change year ago so know it isnt that, also had fuel filter change.. im thinking it might be the fuel pump?? also noticed fuel efficeincy slightly suffering lately?? any ideas
2. also when cold, thier is a whiring almost rattling noise from around engine, once again only for a few minutes of driving then it dissapears..
any suggestions welcome.. was planning on getting the usual service done in a month or so anyway, but yeah..

What is the rpm sitting at when it is doing that?
As it sounds like low rpm on idle.

naah rpms are good usually 700-900 cold and 500-700 warm..

That still sounds low

I would say the top end of those numbers would be close but maybe a little higher would be good.
But hay I could be wrong as I am only going off my rpm's

1. TPS sensor not quite right and idle too low slightly
2. Tappets asre getting noisy as it takes a while for oil to circulate nicely they are making slight noise. Oil change may just help that

Try another fuel filter change, it completely cleared up my surging in the morning when it was cold.

yeah i might just change the filter again.. i had major service 100,000km done 18 months ago, tappets adjust (gpx) and fuel filter etc. so they shouldnt be making noise again?? and had and always get service done every 5000kms ?? Do u need to replace the fuel pump often could this be a possible??
checked idle this mornin when cold was just above 1000 slowly came down to about 600-700..
and TPS is that throttle position sensor and if so is that located near stepper..

The TPS is the thing thats facing you on the throttlebody when you open the bonnet (with a thing you can slide left or right) whereas the Stepper is kind of under the intake pipe side of the TB, or near the underside of it...
Not sure how often it needs ot be changed would have thought that is one of the thigns thats done with a 5-10k service or 6ish months ? But im not a mechanic... i find it did the trick when it was surging on cold mornings. I adjusted the TPS the week before made a minor difference but didn't get rid of it altogether.
