One reason to replace fuel filter

Went to Albury on the weekend and got a new PB in fuel economy :)

Even though the gauge was only showing a bit below 1/4 full I wanted to fill up before I came back to save having to stop somewhere along the way, so unfortunately I don't have a complete whole tank figure. However I travelled 568.9km's and the tank only took 42.6L before trickling out the top (as all bowsers seem to do  )

Comes out something like 7.5L/100ks 8) So a theoretical maximum of 800kms from a 60L tank.
Interestingly this was on Caltex Vortex too and I usually get better milage out of BP Ultimate, so I wish I had the opportunity to fill up with that instead.

This is what my gauge shows when Ben's car is parked on the side of the road having boosted it's way to a dry tank.

I've just replaced mine in the RVR with the car only giving me 300kms to a tank.
I have so far done 55kms and the needle has only just gotten off 'F' so I have some good hopes for an extra 60-70kms from a tank on city driving.
Meanwhile, mines turbo and 1.5Tonne... So I can't expect FTO mileage.

it's called the feed hole.
You will find it leads to a thirsty midget called Mr Block.

I would think not changing a fuel filter would use less fuel seeing as less fuel can get thru the fuel?

I should change mine but it looks so hard :(

Well I don't rive on highway much at all. I just drive around town, to school, down to the supermarket etc lol.
I shift on 3k-4k range :)
So I should be getting more then 250-300 out of the tank? haha

Minor service with plugs, leads and filter to be done.

Also remove the dead bodies from the boot! extra weight not good for fuel economy.

I do all that, and I always get over 450 to a tank (and I can usually push it for more.. that's just filling up when I see a servo.. haha) And sometimes I shift higher than 3-4k, have to exercise the MIVEC :)

So when is someone going to put up a DIY on changing a fuel filter, or does someone want to help me do mine?

 We should really start a "Check out how fucked my fuel filter is" thread, Im gonna change the one on the corolla and I'm expecting to find something interesting as my economy is pretty bad at the moment, otherwise next to be looked at is will be O2 sensor (which was only replaced not too long ago apparently).

Yeah because i remember reading before I purchased my car that the fto's mivec engine is quite decent on fuel.
Only 250-300km says otherwise
Oh and I also forgot to mention i drive in 5th gear at 60km/h on flat road inorder to save fuel lol....

crusing at 60km/h in 4th gear she revs at 2.5k
Do these ^^ figures sound normal?

It's just expensive spending $60 for 250km :/

60km/h in 4th should be at 2.2k i'm preety sure.

I wouldn't chuck it in 5th doing 60 man puts strain on you g/box
