FTO AUSTRALIA

I made the mistake of reading some other forums and I cannot belive they describe the Ftos as being slightly Feminine?
A mechanic took my fto for a spin the other day when he returned this older guy told him that he would need a flowery shirt to drive that car, I couldant resist apologizeing that I am able to afford a car which is in better condition than his rust bucket commadore and left.
I feel that I may of attached to this car since making the sydney to qld trip.

youll always get that, but you have one billion times more chance of picking up than a commodore, it looks a tonne better than most cars its age.

just make it look tough, ftos standard look a tad girly i must admit but with the right kit, youll get heaps of compliments.

A lot of other forums tag our cars as hair dressers cars and sh*t like that. But put them on the track with some of us and they soon change there minds.
More so when we fly past them or sit right on there back bar pushing them around the track hehehe.

I cannot belive the amount of animosity their is between fto's and other imports you would of thought that all the imports may stick together? maybe its because a large number of tuner imports are nissans, so all the skylines & 180sx ect stick together.
And then they go on about them being fwd but 90% of these guys would never dream of putting their cars on the track they just want to drift their cars around the street waiting to kill someone, put a stock fto next to a stock 32/33 on the track and I recon the fto would have equal chance depending on the driver.
The last drift meet I went to completly put me off drifting my 32, out of the 20 cars in the meet only about five finished the day, I would rather spend time improving my car than trying to work out why its just blown up. Anyway back to the subject.
They all comment about how you dont get any performance untill you hit eight grand well I think thats great! everyone ive taken in the car sofar gets a massive shock when I give it a hit in first with a massive kick then to second in mivec with no traction what soever and the mivec roar then I normally slow down And the first thing they ask is is this a turbo? But surely thats how the cars been designed thats how they have built it so so what.
Lastly anyone who has owned a fto on one of these so called import forums has always stuck up for the car, sofar I have not read my fto was sh*t so I brought a skyline, shame the other knuckle heads dont knock it until they have tried it.
At the end of the day it gets dark and I like my fto just the way it is, so im off to buy a flowery shirt.

Nice rant, i've only had a few comments as such and i just reply with the "yeah whatever". But i'm preety cruisy and sh*t doesn't bother me.

its a girls car cause its 2l you can find 4cyl with 2l and same amount of power ( aka 3sge )
but its light and quick and revs
with turbo or the 2.5 in there then it would be a beast
it has the look of all the high powered imports with a baby engine

Just remember these cars were not made to go fast in a strait line.
They where made as a domestic car, sporty looks and good handling that's it.

Always been puzzled to what 'tough' means... You have to be scared first to have something to be 'tough' about?? Its not the worlds greatest car and well done to any car which is faster...

The FTO is a relaxed looking car that is similar to an integra but people think its a buzz box so its gets the tag 'more prettier than it goes'. And thats among the honest ones (critics).

a couple of guys I know did make the comment: "it's a girl's car"
my response was " I'd raterh attract girls to my car then bogan dudes any day"

I still keep in touch with those guys because it always puts a smile on my face when I see them, ...it makes me appreciate my life just that much more - at least I can afford shampoo, dental work (when/if I ever need it) and my car still doesnt attract fugly bogan dudes.

Gotta add to this one, driving an "FT-Slow" is a touch annoying, but normally if I take anyone with that perception out for a drive they quickly change their mind, haha.

when i first got my car my gf was friends with some of the skyline guys so went to one of the gosford meets and parked my car other side of the car park, was talking to a few of them and they asked what i drive, said the fto and they said they saw it on the way in ,
so just goes to show its a car that stands out in the crowd and they didnt give me a hard time
