I have the following symptons, when accelerating from stand still i temporarily run lean sometimes up to 20 AFR the suddenly surge forward when it runs back normal.

When i accelerate it seems to hesitate a second then kick in.

Sometimes when driving with throttle at about 15% without moving it the car seems to surge and drop back.

Now the o2 sensor is new so its not that.

Only thing i cann think of is it could be fuel filter clogged or fuel pump giving up?

Could also explain why im running 100% duty on the injectors at high rpm cos not enough fuel is pumping through?

could any other info help?

When was the last time the filter was changed?

Sounds awfully similar to the issue I had, but not quite on as grand a scale.

im not sure if they changed it when they did all the work to my car.

i might do it this sunday as well as a service.

it also struggles to start as well.

is it easy to do? located where?

and whats the best way to do it?

part number is Z441 isnt it?

Its on firewall passenger side

easier to remove manifold to give some room.

just be carefull when undoing nuts as they are a soft metal and can round off easy

but totally fairly simple job

I gaurantee you the workshop wouldn't have changed it for you - and if it sat in there for months like mine did, then your filter may well just look like mine above.

Yeah, resonably easy to change, just a cock to get at. From memory (in a standard FTO engine bay) you have to remove the battery & battery tray, plus intake pipe to get at it. Its right down the back bolted to the firewall. Undo the fuel lines first, then unbolt from its mount.

hmm i just look through the receipt and no fuel filter, and mine was in there for about 4 months.

mine looks like the OEM one... probably very nasty.

maybe unleash more killerwasps?

went out and bought a ryco one for $20 today. Place i had to go for other stuff wasnt open.

Unplug the fuel pump (under the rear seat) and run the engine to de pressurise the system and get as much fuel out of the way as possible.

And get a hold of a plumbers flange spanner if you can, it goes further round the nut so it doesn't round off so easily.

^^^^^ This or just use an angle grinder to cut out a small section of a 10mm spanner, I am so cheap lol

If its as rooted as mine was, yeah you probably will, but keep in mind, you'll be running rich after you change it.
