Speeding
Accelerated past a speed camera yesterday afternoon in 50km/h zone. I think the needle hit around 80 as I was passing....it really depends how far the camera hits you from (the further the better for me in this case).
What am I looking at? $500 fine? and 6month license suspension?
My old man wasn't too impressed. But hey it happened, life goes on.

Re: Speeding
For that to happen I'd need to have been doing 95km/h+... that's defs a negative. And this is also my first ever driving offense. I have a clean record both on the road and off.
I cam out of a turn in second gear and accelerated in second gear up in the 6k RPM range, pushed it into third then fourth and started to let the friction (as it's slightly up hill) slow the car down...then realizing i just zoomed past a camera.
This road is not a built up area. There are paddocks on one side and houses on the other. The road is dead straight and wide enough to have 4 cars traveling side by side with room to spare. The reason this road is 50 is because, well there is no speed signs therefore indicating a 50km/h.
80km/h isn't fast in these cars, especially on such a road (which may see one car per 5mins). I just got a little too excited at the wrong time and if you think you've never sped in your life, you're a hypocritical dimwit!

Re: Speeding
And before one of you wank*** jump on blabbering on that I shouldn't have sped....
I accept that I've broken the law and am one of the unfortunate people to be stung at the wrong time (as I don't usually speed).
I've just come asking for answers, not dimwitted responses addressing the fact that I broke the law.
thanks

Re: Speeding
let's change that to "I know I broke the law, I understand I was wrong and will learn from my mistake. But in the mean time can anyone answer my original question please?" eh? much less aggravating for someone to read than that post lol. (I know what you are trying to say, but remember, most things that can be taken the harsh/wrong way generally will when it's on the internet lol)mosti wrote:And before one of you wank*** jump on blabbering on that I shouldn't have sped....

Anyways, to answer your question, depends on which state you are in.
in QLD: More than 20 km/h but not more than 30 km/h over the speed limit: $333 + four demerit points. (qld transport)
VIC: Exceed speed limit in a vehicle other than a heavy vehicle by 25km/h or more but less than 30km/h: $328 + 4 points. (main rds)
NSW: More than 20 km/h but not more than 30 km/h, $361 + 4 points (RTA)
it might be slightly different too if you were in a school zone or if you are on P (or L) plates

Har Har you're hillarious dude.... GFY
Cheers Borep for that little piece of info. Looks like I'll be paying quite a hefty fine indeed. Will just have to wait on the letter I guess as I'm not 100% sure on what speed I was traveling. =]

Re: Speeding
Is it really that hard to use a bit of brainpower and find the necessary info on your state's transport department website (where you will most certainly find it) rather than posting on here and practically asking to be flamed?

Re: Speeding
Give the guy a break. He sped and now he's facing the consequences he's just asking about it. You don't have to be a bunch of pricks about it.

But seriously, ask Yano where he got that info from and I guarantee he won't say he got it from the top of his head. I'll bet he used common sense and took the time to do his own research...
I just don't see the point in coming on forums and asking questions about contentious topics, especially when the info is so readily available.

I8A4RE - lol
mosti - there's no need to be rude, that'll just get other people angry and react with more rude and inappropriate comments. I'm pretty sure all states departments of transport listed the fines on their websites, if you want to check for yourself. I'm pretty sure you won't lose your license if you were under 30km/h over the limit. I'm about 99% sure that speed camera's in WA are set to start flashing cars if they are going at least 10% over the limit (and I'm sure this is reflected through all states to allow for slightly incorrect speedometers). If you were doing 80km/h you'll prob find the fine will say you were 25km/h over or slightly less. You are most likely just looking at a big fine and a few demerit points. Not a big deal considering its your first offence. And I'm sure you'll learn from your mistake as almost all of us have already

If I ask a question on the forums its generally because i looked for 5-10 minutes on the internet and couldn't find enough info on it because most likely because someone else on the forums will know about it or where to get the information from.
