Hey a friend of mine recently bought an fto and after driving it i noticed that the volt meter would go from under 12v to over 14v after

a few minutes then go back down.So is the alternator f:cked or is it the volt meter. Thanks

nah she's fine.

when the car is on, it will run at about 13-14 volts because the battery is charging. of you turn the car on, but don't have the motor running, look at the voltmeter then. thats your true batter level :)

guys, correct me if i'm wrong (which i most probably am)

alternators can be expensive and a PITA to replace so I would get a multimeter onto the battery before relying on the dodgy in car volt meter.
