Can anyone help to confirm the size of the stock front brake disk of a 1997 GPX?

Technical Manual says : Disc effective area x thickness mm = 227.8x24mm

But CompleteFTO says 15" ventliated disk which converted to 381mm?


I look up www.dba.com.au and search for FTO, it only shows USA version (Eclipse), and size shows 256x24mm.

Another website http://www.brakepads.com.au/categories.asp?cid=104402
shows model: DBA4425SL in 276x24mm

Have anyone bought DBA4000 series and fitted into your GPX? exact model number please?

Dunno about those figures, 227.8mm is even smaller than the GR rotors - which are 256mm.

381mm is even bigger than the HSV kit I've got on my car which is 330mm

4425 is the correct number
276 is the correct size as Ben said.

Have heard mixed reaction with the 4K series, but depends on how you use them.

edit: just remember to get 1x SL and 1x SR

The issue with them is with the fancy one with drilled holes, the are known to crack but only under enormous braking load like on the track. Otherwise its ok.

The one with just slotted have no problems.

Yep, never buy drilled rotors for performance applications. Slotted only.

Also some of the earlier castings for the 4000 series rotors were slotted to the edges, and would then crack under heavy usage in the slots (as I found out at Bathurst...). They are no longer slotted all the way to the edge.

Never buy rotors slotted all the way to the edge for performance applications...

No, the only difference between 4000 series and 5000 series is that 5000 series are a two piece rotor, with the 'hat' being made of alloy. This is potentially worse on a race car as there is more likelihood of 'coning' at peak temps as the alloy hat & the steel rotor will expand at different rates.

To get around this race cars run 'floating' rotors. This allows for the difference in expansion rates under heat.

What I need is a set of ex NASCAR Brembo floating rotors

Plus they don't make the 5000's for the FTO
