Tis a harmonic balancer.
See that circle about 15mm in from the outer edge, look closely and you'll see that is rubber. If this starts to crack all the way around it needs to be replaced. Haven't heard of one letting go on an FTO though.

99% of car engines need them. Start replacing them with cheap lightweight ebay products & you're asking for bottom end detonation.

They aren't cheap. Took over a month to get them specially made.
But still, i am abit concern now as it eliminates the harmonic balancer.
On the brighter side, the engine feels noticeably more responsive.

Yeah, thats the plus side of them. Same sort of benefit as you'd get from a lightened flywheel, but to a lesser extent.

There is a company that makes 'high performance' after market harmonic balancers, can't remember the name now... found it, ATI is the company. Not sure if they make one for the FTO though...
Did some reading on this with my last racecar. All engines will 'vibrate' at certain rpm intervals, and if the engine runs at this rpm point for very long without a harmonic balancer it can basically shake itself to pieces! So yeah cheap eBay pulleys are not a good idea
