I recently put a 1000W amp in my 1996 FTO GPX. About a week or so later something went wrong and my voltmeter dropped from about 14V to 10V. I didnt have any problems with it until I was driving it one night and the electrical system started to die on me. Now my car wont start what so ever and I need a new battery. My partners dad works at exide, but since the car is a full import the car isnt on their books. Does anyone know what sort of specs an 1996 FTO GPX battery has?

I am not a fan of exide batteries at all, even to the point I will never buy one again. My last one was a heavy duty exide cost $170 retail after replacing it for the the third time in two years I had enough.

go for the biggest you can afford that will physically fit. You may need to change the terminals but thats simple. And add an extra earth strap to one of the engine lifting hook bolts.
