FTO AUSTRALIA

I got my FTO, gpx about a year ago and have had no problems, its onli been the past few months where it has been giving me trouble. I had the dash light just randomly pop up when i turnd corners or over bumps took it all over adelaide to get the codes checked and no1s scanners wld pik it up. So i finali got it hooked up to a m8s laptop n he told me it needed "coolant temp sensor" im having trouble finding 1 and a trust worthy mechanic around adelaide. I reali hope its nothing more serious as it is very hard to start in the morning, and anything over 35000 rpm the car seems to miss and back fire continuosly! Its horrible i love my car so much n its just getting worse. Any help or ideas wuld b greatly appreciated

Yeah what dash light was it? Could be handbrake light (mine used to do that) or window washer bottle need refilling.

Right teste it's the window washer bottle that needs filling.

Its the top right lite 1 sorta looks like a radiator.. the revs just randomly go up n down as well so it must b more than just the window washer bottle.. but wher is it n il fill it up lol!

Yep its washer bottle.

I'm going for washer bottle too.

I remember the first time that came up when I went through a traffic-calming chicane with a bit of speed... I shat myself lol.

But it sounds like you have some sort of non-related engine trouble as well.

The ECU coolant temp sensor can cause problems when it dies. It will register the motor as being cold when its actually qwarm & the ECU will add more fuel to compensate for the temp drop - causing you to run very rich.

Do you smell fuel when it backfires?

Its a $30 part, may be best contact dstocks to see if he can get one from Mitsubishi Japan, alternatively you'll pay through the nose to get one from a local Mitsi dealer.

Doubt it will be the root cause of all the problems, but will certainly help when replaced.
