Heard about is not advisable to own a FTO manufacture before 1996, is it true?

no at all
the only reason you would of heard that is as earlier ones can be prone to roof rust, however many have been fixed or have no issue with it. Just look before you buy

Yeah mines 1994 and in awesome nic, just depends how the previous owner(s) treated it tbh

Yep, look for rust spots in a line 1cm behind the front windscreen and 10cm in front of the rear windscreen. No bubbles and you have a winner.
