Badged or Badgeless?

I'm getting my FTO partially resprayed and have to decide whether I want to replace the front bar badge or just get it bogged up and sprayed. The car currently has no badging/branding on it at all except for the 'FTO' embossed on the rear bar and the 'MIVEC' decals on either side.

In some cases I think debadging can make the car look a little too generic but I'm just not sure with the FTO. On the other hand only hardcore car buffs even know what it is when they see it (in my experience); removing the badging could increase the mysteriousness of my car...

Opinions?

debadge it .. just don't put a badge for another car manufacturer on it like some people do

also reckon if you're respraying the whole car - shave off door handles, boot locks, aerials, indicators (mount in mirrors) and even the windscreen washer nozzles could be flush mounted I reckon.. all the little touches make a lot of difference

Haha, I don't know if I'd go that far. It's a budget job really - the paintwork on the front, bonnet & roof is really quite poor and has been annoying me. The rest of the car is alright, comes up okay with a polish.

I was quoted $1100 for the whole job (for the above), which I was quite impressed with considering it's a small town and services such as this typically hold a premium.

charisma, you know of any kits to mount the indicators on the mirrors?

sorry mate, no kits that I know of..

just need to find a sleek little indicator, cut a hole in the mirror & glue it in place

or you could buy a set of mirror with the indicators already in them;

IMO ..

A car looks so much more sleek without a badge.. Not trying to hide anything, but I have never liked them .. I have de-badged every car I own...

Even if I were to get a BMW or Merc ... It would be shaved...

The only badge I liked on my car was the carbon Mitsi badge on the front of the facelift bar ... Went well with all the other CF parts ... But I just didn't like the look of it on the new bar ... So was glad to take it off... And since the boot is carbon as well... There was no need to put the sticker badges as I think it cheapens the look of the car ..

But opinions are like arseholes ... Everyone has one...

brad .. you're entitled to your opinion, but if you're going to log in here & abuse new members then keep them to yourself mate

Mine are coming off as soon as I get the new front bar - purely for aesthetics ..but I'm sure i'm not the only one that has had someone admiring the car until you tell them it's a mitsubishi ..

Mine's debadged apart from the "GP" on the boot.

It makes a good conversation starter from randoms who ask "what's that?"

And then you say it's a Mitsubishi and they are surprised 8) .

sorry wasnt meant to be considered abuse or offensive in anyway

was meant to be just my opinion and not an attack on anyone

sorry if it appeared that way snichol

edit: also just a quick question for everyone (sorry for hijack) if you bought an expensive sports car like an aston, maserati, etc
would you unbadge that aswell?

I would if it looked like sh*t, like the Mitsubishi, Toyota, holden, suzuki etc etc badges because they look like sh*t. :) I don't mind honda's though.

I am not sure how the badges look .. But generally .. Yeah .. Especially the Maserati .. I hate that big logo in the middle of the grille... Looks so much cleaner without ...

As mentioned in my above post, regardless of it even being a BM or Merc I would do the same... It is actually an option on the BM's to have all badged removed...

if more effort has been put into designing the logo / badges than the car itself, or contributes to the looks / styling of the car, then no - i'd leave them..

Im not a fan of the original mitsubishi front bar bar on the ftos, too small and dont like the "sunken" in look,
but i love the new looking chrome ones on all the mistubishi cars ,
cost me only $7 from ebay and i like it on the fto (:

The only thing i have on mine is the FTO dent on the boot, which is how i bought it.

Personally when the dent gets removed from the back im getting this fto dent filled in too. I know what the car is, who cares what anyone else thinks.

I was never a fan of the dent.. But have the FTO panel on the back bar...

Hated that at first, but it has grown on me...

Will they all fit an FTO.. (is the rule of thumb is that if it fits a Lancer, it will fit an FTO as with lights, wipers etc?)
