Hey,
My GF wants to change her car rego to her name. Currently its on her dads name. How much would it cost to change to her name?
Its a Magna.

Ummm ...Where do you live...
That will help you get an answer .. As it is different from state to state...
But generally, to transfer ownership, you will have to pay stamp duty on the value of the car... As if it is being sold from her father to her... But you states registery office will confirm on their website.. Eg Vic Roads or RTA in NSW ...

Yeah, in NSW its 4% the value of the car.

lol but the car is actually probably worth 1000? its a 2001 magna TJ with about 250,000km on the clock. haha

They will check it up on I think it's called red book.
9x out of 10 they go off the book price if they think it's under priced.

You may be lucky then .. You would have to tell them the K's and what not.. But, they will probably try redbook if they think the value is off...

They'll say $3500. I'd say $2500.

Really?
My god, it cost me $14.50 incl GST to change ownership of my ex's car into my name a while back.
All it was was a change of ownership. You guys are getting boned, unless I have missed something.
