Hey guys getting a fair bit on tax back this year, was just going to give the fto a major major service so i dont have to worry about major things for a while except oil and coolant flushes. How much for this do you's reckon possibly?

1. Timing belt, tensioners, waterpump replaced
2. Cam Oil seals replaced
3. Tappets adjusted
4. Front and Rear Rocker cover gaskets replaced
5. Engine Oil flush with semi-synthetic oil & Oil Filter (not ryco, only coopers)
6. Gearbox Oil replaced with syncho cleaner additive as well. (synthetic oil)
7. Brake and Clutch Fluid flushed and replaced
7. Air Filter
8. 6 iridium plugs installed (not platinum)
9. Fuel filter
10.Coolant Flush & New Coolant
11.Thermostat Replaced
12.4 Brake Discs Machined
13.Stepper Motor Cleaned
14. Fuel injectors cleaned


Would there be anything else that would need doing?

Well consider that I got quoted $1600 JUST for camseals, new head gaskets and tappets and then go from there...

There is absolutely no way that can all be done in one day unless the mechanic has nothing else to do.

I'd say you'd be up for approx $2500, if not more...

If you're providing the parts then it can be anywhere between $600-$1,000 for the labour, parts all up wouldn't cost for then $500.

Sorry forgot to add, yes i would be supplying all parts inc. oils etc.

lol, don't think ben will do the timing belt though

well jetstar & virgin are having a sale at the moment .. should be able to get flights for just over a hundred then 6 cartons of beer = BARGAIN!

oh yeah & between 2-3k for that service .. but just wait for ben to start ranting about cleaning fuel injectors being a waste of time

and maybe just throw on a new stepper motor instead of just cleaning it .. it would be aroun $90 or so..

come on im pretty sure one of the members here is a mechanics who has or works for a workshop... offer us a good discount and watch your business grow. lol right guys?

If your supplying all parts depending on where you go would say no more than $800 labour costs

And that was bout 860 ot 960 to install but I got the water pump threw him witch was threw dealer ship. so minis bout 100 . I bought parts threw camskill forget how much but bout 800 or so

generally, labour alone should easily hit over 1k, im guessing 1-1.5k.
unless you have a buddy buddy mechanic.

hey im curious to the average price that people pay mechanics per hour for labour?
its about $80 isnt it?

Well the guy who did mine is a client of my parents . Both massage theripists. So he dose mobile services so he did it prob cheaper 1 cause he's not a big shop and two he's a good guy. he picked up my car in the morning, did all the work droped it back late that night, yea prob longer then the shop would but a lot easyer and cheaper.best part is he's a mitsi trained machanic

Lol thanks for the offer ben, looks like ill just get the shop to do the timing belt, seals and tappets, but im pretty sure i can do the rest with guidance as the labour is going to be a killer.

For starters how would i flush the brake fluid and clutch fluid?
What brand would you guys reccommend replacing them with?

Brake fluid drian from I think its drivers side then passenger then rear left then rear right, I think don't qoute me, basicly keep toping up the fluid don't let it go empty or you will get air in your brakes, once the fuid that's coming out is fresh stuff, close that one and start on next ,

And if there replacing timing belt get them to put the water pump in as it uses the timing belt to turn it otherwise you will have to redo timing belt

What is the process do i get my gf to push down on the brakes while i loosen the nut let it all squirt out, tighten it back up, get her to release the brake, top it up, repeat that process twice. Move onto next caliper?
