Hey guys I no the fto is caped . But was wondering what other cars are. What % of jap inports are caped .

All jap cars are topped out at 180 from factory, it comes down to the jap owner if they take the limiter off.

Ok cause that's what I thought and said it to this guy now he's saying I don't no sh*t cause his turbo exa uses stock ecu and he's done 200 befor

Is he running a after market boost controller? as I think some systems take out the limiter.

Yea, I think there is a bit of leeway in it possibly? My mate's needle went well past 180 in his Supra (or so he tells me).

I thought it was all JDM cars that weren't exported .. Stayed as 180 ...
Like the Evo I-III .. But the Aus delivered model (GSR 1.8lt) had a speedo that went past 220 ... Not sure if they actually got up to 200 though ...

haha
i shat myself and vowed never to do it again, i was just interested in what would happen
i now dont realise the point of having a cap past 140 or so
there would be no reason to ever go that fast except for being a dickhead
even 140 is a questionable speed for anyone to go
thumbs up to anyone who can competently drive at that speed and have some sort of control
on the track ofcourse

You'd be surprised, the FTO is quite stable at high speed. With a bottle of happy gas on the old motor I was hitting a hair over 210 down the main straight of Oran Park. Its braking at that speed that will test your nerves.

I agree, 180 at the end of Ruapuna coming up to the rope/tyre barrier at the end scares the living sh*t out of you the first time; there aint much space left by the time you cross the line to bleed off any speed; I almost wanted to open the doors to create some drag XD

the last model of camrys come with a speedo that goes to 240, but is speed limited to 180.

dont your nerves kick and you get afraid you'll do something incredibly stupid like turn the wheel a bit to much and it will end in a crash?
i suppose you would get used to it
but like the first time you raced a car did you freak out?

i was surprised hitting the limiter at 190 how stable my toe was... then it ran out of brakes though

Yeah, of course. Then you do one mild lap, one medium, then one quick... and you're hooked!
Then you spend a few laps deliberately trying to loose it / slide out so can gauge exactly where the cars limits are.

It really depends how hard you push it and what state your suspension components are in; I have never seen a single track car flip at any of the many track days or race days or drift days I have been to at Ruapuna and others.
I have never hit up a circuit (though I plan to eventually) so I really can't state any facts about that; but I *have* hit black ice cutting a long sweeping downhill 85k corner in the mountains at about 80km/h and slid into a slight inclined depression on the side of the road full of gravel; the initial drop down did feel like the car *could* have flipped, if it had've been something more solid I do believe that a wheel could have dig into it enough to force the momentum to flip me over (perhaps hard packed clay, rock, or even frozen dirt/grass). As it was inclined I bled off speed quickly and came to a stop about 5 feet from a creek bank (may have wrong term, sloping up from where the road was though it was below road level, uphill essentially).
Then again, depending on angle of entry, the FTO is very front heavy which may just make it sledge instead of flip.
Overall I believe it *is* possible, but that's just from one scary experience; reality may be very different.
BTW, this was in my old GPX with standard suspension bar king springs and my passenger side wheels were both knocked out of alignment a little.
That particular stretch of road has visibility from the top of the hill for about 6-700m after the corner, and even though I wasn't speeding cutting the corner and hitting the lowest part of the corner with the black ice was enough to upset the car; had I stayed on my side of the road I believe the camber of the road would have kept me on course without problems, even with ice. Scary sh*t, I sat there for about 20 minutes until my nerves calmed enough to keep going.
