Hey guys, I have a FTO GPX "95", I currently have koni adjustable coilovers,
they are now stuffed, so I now need new suspension for front and back.
I don't care if I just go back to plan struts or if I go for another set of
coilovers, but I also need strut tops due to them being cracked.

Question: What struts fit the fto for front and back? Prices?

Any ideas where I can get strut tops? Prices?

P.S. Im in NSW and no where near sydney.....

dont know if you would want this setup , but im going for bc premium coilovers, 1500 fitted, going to negotiate for an alignment if it doesnt include it in that price, this is from ozzytyres.

can also try kings 30mm or lovells, with kyb excel-G struts, around 1200 fitted from memory, that was a quote

+1 for the BC BR Gold series.

I'm currently running those coilovers and loving it.

How do you find the ride with those? Do they handle bumpy roads well?

Most of you know my thoughts on cheap coilovers for street use, so I wont bang on about it, go for KYB adjustables & some king springs.
That'll cost you about $800. The rears are the same as the CJ4 Mirages, the fronts are Volvo eqivalents belive it or not. All the part
numbers are in the suspension thread, in the tech section. Strut tops are best sourced from either Camskill or Mitsi local.

Any of them really. I dont even run coilovers & I spend more time on the track than anyone here.

Coilovers these days are more for kids to click on an internet link & buy just so they can say "I've got coilovers." Whoever came up with these cheapo Ebay units is a marketing genius & probably a very rich man now.

If you are actually going to spend lots of time on a perfectly smooth track, then I'd recommend Teins.

For the money I paid for them, I think the BCs are great. Definitely a noticeable improvement over the Apexi springs and Pedders shocks combination I was running prior to the coilovers.

I didn't buy a cheap set of coilovers just to say that I have them. I was after suspension that was height and damper adjustable to suit my driving environment, which is something the average set of of springs and shocks will not provide.

Yeah, mate of mine has an R32 with them in it. Standard issue, neck snapping, chassis cracking, excessively heavy springs on them on them. Straight off eBay.

Pete dont worry about what the cranky old bugger is saying. I have "cheap" coilovers too and when setup correctly are f**ken brillant. Ask anyone who has been on a mountain run with me

They may be cheep to start off with but they don't last as long as the better brands.
But hay you get what ever your budget can get, as Simon said set up right and they will do the job.

Well, mine are definitely not that stiff unless set to the hardest damper setting. In fact, they're softer then my old shock/spring combination with the right adjustment.

Mine are 7kg front, 5kg rear, although they do also come in 9 front and 7 rear as far as I'm aware.

Im pretty happy with my G4's, they performed very well for what their worth thats if you were willing to put up with the stiffness. To be honest, I've never had any issues with them, they've been fine even when pushed on a mountain run.

+1 totally agree was bit unsure before i put mine in but well worth it now, just have them set on very soft setting for city driving and managable

BC Racing is the company that make coilovers for Greddy (Type-S), some for Apexi and Pedders.
I'm running BC Racing Gold on my car thats capable of a 1:11 on Wakefield Park.
I've fitted them to a Lancer in custom spring rate 6kg front 4kg rear and you couldnt tell the car had coilovers at all same deal with a customers DC5 with 10kg front 12kg rear.

They are a tonne better built, dampened than D2/Ksport/G4 coilovers.
Says a lot considering I've built another Mirage that is lapping 1:16s with 1.5L non turbo on G4 coilovers.
Now that it is a fresh set of BC Racing RM MA inverted coilovers its going to be even faster.

If you are more even more hardcore then how about external resevior tanks with independant compression and rebound settings.
For the money they are definately hard to beat.

Definately better than any lowered spring and KYB Excel-G shock combo (which I have been through, was fun on the street but abit scary once put hard through the windy roads and no way as stable on the track) which is ok for the street but for any driver who wants to push their car and even track their car coilovers has to be the way to go.
