Anyone using TPG as their provider? Have issues at the moment?

I'm getting a lot of drop outs. Called tech and they said it could be my modem.

i'm getting the same problem lately, and I know my modem is fine.

as far as I can figure it out is that they bit off more than they can chew.

yep, told him my setup has not changed for the last 2-3 years since i joined up, kinda shut him up.

I've had some dropouts recently. But they recently stopped after I reduced the number of connections in my download managers,torrent clients,disconnecting wireless adapters when not in use, as adsl dont like too many connections open at once.

Even after this though i still get the occasional dropout which I remedy by restarting the modem

theyre cheap and really reliable

dont think i can ever remember having a dropout and been with them for a long time

+ 1 for iinet.

They own their own dslams in every Telstra exchange.

I'm with iinet & even though they're more expensive, and the uploads count towards the total downloads.. the best thing about them is that they defend the privacy of their customers from the RIAA & MPAA

Basically they won their lawsuit that says that they're not responsible for what their users download & don't have to give any download history info to the MPAA / RIAA etc..

A few people I know have received emails from TPG warning them that they've downloaded a movie / album illegally & that if it continues they will forward the info to the RIAA / MPAA .. so I suggest anyone with TPG as their provider should look into setting up an encrypted SSL Tunnel to route all their internet traffic through so it's not able to be tracked or at the least run PeerGuardian http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/

TPG ADSL2+ business unlimited ftw...recieve more priority as a business customer, no download caps and 15mbit speeds

also, news servers like astraweb have excellent SSL encryption

How much does that set you back mate?

it probably works out about the same if you have your home phone with them (and actually use your home phone, I don't even know where my home phone is anymore)

oh and they dl limit is not as huge as tpg (still more than enough for your average person, but it'm trying to create a small black hole of 0s and 1s around my house so i need more dl limit lol)

i think i have this
but we kept our old phone with telstra aswell so we could keep the same number and also be able to use a phone when someone is downloading cause you cant dl and call someone at the same time without it being sh*t as

havent had any problems, rarely go over cap, shared between 4 people on separate computers

As long as your happy with the service and it meets your needs, thats all that really matters

Hey guys, just wondering how everyone's going with their internet? Is the TGP still dropping out? And are all the iinet people still happy?

Basically we told telstra to stick it and now im up for a new internet contract

Deciding between TPG and iinet, but im open to opinions of other providers as well. Looking for ADSL2+, and im currently leaning towards TPG 180GB for $50.

Any thoughts?

iinet justed upped our limits to 60/60Gb for free

With TPG no problems here.

I did have some bad dropouts for awhile. Rang and abused them to upgrade our line after i got a much needed new modem.
