Ok so if you have a aftermarket BOV venting to ATMO and you running a AFM the car can stall and run rich ok cool i understand why.....
How do you get around this, how canyou run a ATMO BOV and not have the running rich or stalling problems? Do you have to get a whole new ECU or something? I8AFRE how did you do it? you have the GFB deceptor and you have an AFM?

The ATMO is releasing air that has already been taken into account by the ECU from the MAF.
If the MAF reads lets say 10 bar of air, you change gear, butterfly closes, air is released through the ATMO, then once you open throttle again, the air that was supposed to be in the intake system is no longer; only 2 bar left, and the car is still fueling for that missing 8 bar of air.
Truley the only way around this as far as I'm aware is a new ECU, or possibly piggy back, that you can inform the ecu that at 'X' throttle; there will be 'Y' air; so give 'Z' fuel, etc etc.

Why would the car stall if it vents to atmo. The car will still be sucking in air. You have to remember the pressure venting to atmo is WAY WAY more air than the car needs when the pedal is released, thats why it need to vent. Iit IS NOT removing ALL the air, just the boost.

LOL, go the word sensors.

edit: Forgot to add.
Never heard of a car stalling because of it.
It will simply run a bit rich on gear changes....

There is way too many varibles to answer that question accurately. I agree with astron boy but that will not answer all scenarios

easiest way around it is
Reflash - if able
piggy back - next to sure that can fix it
Replace ecu - aftermarket and dyno tune.

APEXi SAFC-II and above can apparently correct the mixture to eliminate that issue. And yes, it's supposed to affect most japanese turbo vehicles though it really depends on the setup of your IC piping etc as some cars just don't have the problem.
The worst I ever experienced was my old SSS Attesa blooey
