Im slowly working on painting my interior to get a better look than just black.
but im having a little trouble figuring out how to remove some parts of the interior:

1) Cigerette lighter, seems to be a metal couling over the lighter to stop ash burning the plastic, but cant seem to take it off
2) both AC vents below the window on top of the dash
3) door handles & door handle cover plates (the place where the electric windows switches are)
4) trip gear box casing (with all the P,R,N,D and the +,-)
5) AC vent covering, by the drivers side door, just above the mirror control

All help appreciated

1. I think the metal bit clips in, try pulling it out.

2. The vents and surrounding fabric section lifts from the front.

3. You will need to unscrew the door panel off to get to some of the parts, 6 screws I think.

4.Lift the centre console surround up from near the cup holder carefully, then unscrew the bit underneath.

1) Metal Cowling on the back of the unit screws off and the lighter pulls through the front.
2) These level out with a screwdriver.
3) You need to take off the door lining and remove screws from the back. To get off door lining, one on front at top, 2, at back of door, in the little parcel shelf and 1 under the door cup.
4)Need to take the gear knob off and remove stereo surround. 4 screw underneath.
5) Need to remove the dash completely to get these vents out.

Is there a general walk through somewhere to pulling everything apart?
What type of paint do you guys use for it too? WIll have to look into it!

It's all very self explanatory, don't force anything cos these damn things get so damn brittle; mine is fucked from the last owner just ripping it all to shreds /sigh

2. we talking the place in the corners if so remove the vent part from the grill it just slides into a hole then simpley lift the front part of the grill it will also reveal the bolt for dash mounting

Just a quick tip for interior painting: use a spray-on vinyl dye. It's much better than spray paint; actually soaks into the plastic and changes the colour as opposed to a layer on top of the plastic which could flake off. Plus it's really thin which makes it easier to apply (doesn't bead as easily).

I did my steering column cover with brilliant results (although it was black to black - kinda boring )

Hey snicholmeister, where do you get the spray on vinyl dye? can you use it on all the plastic and vinyl in the interior (console etc)?

I bought my can from my local Repco store for about $30. The brand is 'VHT' and it proclaims that it: "restores or changes your interior colour, penetrates and won't fade or flake off". It also says that it can be used on vinyl or cloth seats, carpet and dash.

Seems to work quite well. I used it for a few interior bits that were discoloured - the actual colour is 'gloss black' so it doesn't actually match exactly but it is very very close and is much better than what it was. It usually helps to sand the piece with some fine sandpaper first then make sure it's clean and dry before applying.

I worked out how to do it today.
There is a gold ring at the back of the lighter behind the console surround, unscrew it

..very carefully

a gold ring behind it.. Off memory mine only had a silver cup.. Nothing else...
