I've got a 95 GPX and recently it's began making a ticking type noise. It's only really noticeable when idling but not moving or when driving very slowly(eg. up a driveway, when parking, etc). Someone suggested to me that it was an exhaust leak so my brother took it to a friend's muffler shop and they couldn't find anything like that wrong with it.

Any ideas what this could be?

Alternatively,is there anyone in Syd with plenty of experience that I might be able to bring the car around to(or meet up somewhere) so you can have a listen and see what you think?

Also grab your phone and record the sound to email to someone on here for them to have a listen.

It's common and is just a metal part with gunge inside it. Easy enough to fix, though time consuming. Subaru's are notorious for it too as is any Japanese car that uses the same sort of lifters.
