Might of entered through your air filter. What air filter are you using? a pod? and is it enclosed?

If it was positioned low enough a splash of water could easily get in an stuff your sh*t up.

nah my air filter is boxed up so it wont be there im just hoping its maybe the starter motor which is easily replacable.

How deep exactly was this "flood" of water?

You will have to describe the "not starting" if you want us to diagnose it for you.

Eg, is it cranking, dash lights coming on etc etc

it cranked when it started then lasted about 30 seconds then there was a bang and the engine wouldnt start anymore but all the lights and stuff works. Yeah melbourne weather atm sucks =.= its like floods every where and hail every now and there. Umm i would say the water was at my front bumper height i just have a stock front bumper but my car is lowered but dont know how much.

Double ouch, man that is not good at all.

Now again when you say not starting, what do you mean. No cranking i take it? Any ticking sound? How loud was the bang,

THE MORE INFO THE BETTER

Man just went to the mechanics today he showed me the cylinders of the engine the water has gone into the engine and tmz his going to take a look at inside the engine too see wheter anythings broken inside because of that bang. His like you might have to get a new engine =.=, now im thinking wheter to wreck the car and sell parts or get a new engine and place it in.

S/H motor = $500 realy easy to swap over dont even need high mech knowledge of should only take workshop a day labour to do so

s/h motor? sorry my mechanical knowledge is very very limited. He told me i might have to buy a 2nd hand engine and use the parts to replace the old ones and itd be about 1.5k-2k.

Don't bother using the second hand engine to replace the parts of the old engine. Just take out the old one and put the second hand engine in. If you can source for a replacement engine then it would be sweet. And if you need a mech to do it look at the Victoria thread because there are good recommended mechs to do the job for you.

Be careful in going to garages with big windows, it's just so they can see you coming!

No decent mechanic would seriously consider stripping second hand parts from a working motor to rebuild a scrapped one unless his primary motive was labour costs

As above, the motor is plug'n'play so if you can source one you are looking at a day to strip it out and replace it. Compare that to half a day to take out your existing motor, a day or so to strip bits off the new motor and bolt them to the old one, and half a day to put the motor back in.

That would be madness, but profitable

thats true but his a alrite guy doesnt really charge me much for labour and stuff, about how much is a new gpx engine anyhow? is the GR the same if theres a straight swap, but kinda dont wanna go backwards towards gr rather stay with the gpx.
