Hi all, I'm a new member, even though I've had my 94 GPX for about six or seven years (long enough to have the fun of rebuilding an idle control motor myself). My son has also recently bought a 97 GPX with an HKS Turbo which he has to take off the vehicle (he's a novice driver in Vic and by law is not allowed to have a turbo). It is in great condition and he wants the turbo to go to a good home. Please contact me if interested. He needs to take it off by mid-March 2010. Cheers :)

Just curious as to what comes with this 'kit.'

Turbo, intercooler + associated piping, blow off valve?

Just let you guys know, so you don't all get your panties in a twist, this gentleman has very kindly introduced himself to me & Im ok for him use the for sale section, even though he has only just signd up.

We look forward to your other contributions Brandt :thumleft:

By the way guys, this turbo kit has been on HKSFTO for many years & working quite relibably, so for those of you that have been babbling on about going turbo for years - here's your chance.

I'd like some info and price ..

Would it not be better to swap the whole engine... I am sure HKS probably did some beefing up to support the turbs ...

Don't think it is beefed up internally.

It was originally imported back in 01 by Craig Dean. It was already turboed in Japan, he kept it for personal use for a few years before selling it to Scracy. Sracy was one of the original club members here, who then sold it on to Wild Ride. He kept it for a few years until it went to Dwayne. From Dwayne it went to taffsturbo, from taffys to Brandto

And in all that time, I dont think anythings been done with the original setup. From memory it runs about 7 pound.

Here the import article with the specs:

Man, that sounds like you are commentating on a soccer match ..

Craig Dean has the ball, he is heading down the sideline passing to Scracy. Sracy cuts up field and passes to Wild Ride. He holds it and passes to Dwayne. Dwayne passes to taffsturbo, from taffys to Brandto ... He shoots ... GOAL !!!!!!!

@OP, keep it? I'm sure your son will be old enough to eventually use the turbo kit. That is rare as hens teeth and you will never re-turbo an FTO for the price you will sell that bugger for...

Take it off, store it, re-install it for his (insert age)th birthday.

that FTO has some history to it! i would say keep hold of it but thats imo :)

but if you do decide to sell im sure it wont take long before someone buys it lol

i agree.

you should see how many people want to turbo an fto... but the cash and time off the road is what holds everyone back. having a ready-to-go turbo kit is a massive asset that you probly wont get again once sold.

Or perhaps he would rather see it put to use rather then sitting on his shelf for three years

I just thought I should say that this setup is NOT off HKSFTO. I sold that car to taffysturbo and I just rang him and he still has the car with the turbo setup and has no intention of selling it. There is probably a mixup somewhere. Im guessing this gear is coming off another turbo FTO (not HKSFTO). Just though I should let people know so that there are no false expectations......

Brandto, have you recieved the car yet from the seller. If you can provide a picture or 2, maybe we can identify it for you. It stil may have been a car that was previously in the club.

Sorry again to hijack the thread, thought this was important info though

OKAY, OKAY, I get the picture, literally.
I'll be happy to post some pix of my stock standard silver 94 FTO GPX really sooooon but for those who may be confused that the turbo one is mine, no, it is my son's.

It's maroon, he bought it about two or three weeks ago from a Melbourne bloke and HEY PRESTO . . . my son has also just signed up as a member of FTO Club of Australia :D His club name is SSKILR ( as in SS Killer, he loves blowing away SS's ) and I do hope he too puts some pix up soon. I believe he's already introduced himself to Bennoz and I'm looking forward to us both being fun and positive contributors to this forum/site/club.

I've contacted those who PM'd me about the turbo situation and I now hope they get in touch direct with my boy, er, SSKILR. Cheers

Thought it might have been a mixup. Sort of threw me as im in regular contact with the owner of HKSFTO (the one in the article) and was surprised to hear he had sold it. There arent that many turbo FTO's about, so they generally attract some interest.

I just sent out the invitation to your son, so I may as well send one out to you as well. We are having a big bonfire on the 10th April. Itll be a bit of a drive from VIC, but youll see more FTO's in one place than you are likely to ever see again (about 25 cars so far). I believe there is at least one other VIC person coming. It should be a great weekend if you are up for the trip.

Anyway, welcome to the club and good luck with the sale of the turbo stuff ;) . Show us somepics of both when you have a chance.

Thanks

Many thanks for that :D He'll be stoked and knowing him, he'll drive halfway across the country for a good get-together. It may even just be the prompt I need to go for a nice long cruise in my silver dream racer across the gully, er, I mean Bass Strait
