If a new topic is started everytime someone wants to know something, then this forum just gets messier and the information more diluted, making it harder to wade through. fto12345, you've been around long enough to know that. From your messages it looked like you were just being lazy.

Rewording the question, like you did above, provides a totally different perspective and you would get totally different information back, posting it in an existing topic that already covered this issue, such as the one from just a few weeks back, would have been even better, as this would keep all the information together making it easier to find and follow, and would help others in the future.

I was making mine out of styrene plastic, 1 mm thick or 0.5mm... you can get it from architectural modeling shops... it looks much better than vinyl stickers and you can paint over it...
but i havent finished it yet maybe this long weekend.... its gonna be stuck on using double sided tape....

Just an idea though maybe looks a little better if you had the outsides of the headlights covered as well the part of the headlight that gets covered by your bonnet...you know how you can still see the bit of your headlight....

I think the ones that are made out of fibreglass or plastic all have this extended part that covers that little bit of the headlight...I think..

But either way it looks great!
But I still would like to know where you could get one either in plastic or fibreglass.....

I've got to agree with fto12345, I think it looks a little odd that you can see the gap between the eyelid and the bonnet. I much prefer the look of the other ones where there is no gap.

yeah i know what you mean... guess with the styrene sheet you can't do much coz you cant really bend it as such... i wanted to do that too, and have a bit of 'bulge' off from the bonnet gap to where the eyelid ends...

G1, maybe we could rice up our cars so much that when it's qite dirty it'll still look very nice!!! Just a thought!

Btw, I wonder if the technique on vinyl stickers will work with the styrene sheet although you'll have to be more careful as the styrene will be more fragile.
What I'm getting at is with vinyl you can apply some thing like a hair dryer and stretch it or bent it or what ever you like. I wonder if this will work with your material, although it'll have to be a very very low heat, otherwise, it'll all cringle up I guess, but if you do it right you might be able to mould it using the heat treatment and then stick it!

unfort. it wont work... you can try to heat it up to try and bend it, but i doubt you'll get a consistent bend.... its only ideal for flat surfaces, and surfaces that are not too curvy, like the headlight... it was flexible enough to follow the curve .... depending on its thickness...

i read an article in one of the autosalon magazines on how to make a DIY boot install using fibreglass 'paste' for the boot cover, using cloth to form the shape then applying the fibreglass material on top of it and setting it dry... but lost the magazine
i guess if you want an eyelid like how you've described this is one way of doing it... but would be very fiddly...

or simply just pay 200$ to get it done properly

If I was to do this, I'd probably use vinyl

It helps that my brother-in-law does vinyl printing / signs for a living

He attacked my car recently with chrome Mivec stickers and pin-striping to match some of the other chrome highlights on my car, the sides look good, but I'm not sure about the bonnet, still working out if I like that.
