Noisy air-con/idler bearing

Has/does anyone have a noisy air-con compressor or idler bearing in their FTO engine?
My GPX makes a mechanical wurring noise (proportional to engine speed) which sound like its coming from the air con compressor or idler. I had the same thing (idler bearing) happen to my silvia and it made exactly the same noise, so im pretty sure thats what it is.
If so, how much did it cost to fix? Who did it? Any advice?
Cheers.

hmm alternator hey, nah i think thats ok. (touch wood).
I took it to a mechanic today and they think its actually the timing belt, which i thought needed doing. Gonna cost me about $380 to replace i think.

ChrisP, i'm hitting the 100'000k mark and also need a new timing belt.

But you see, the best price i've been qouted was $500 ($200 for belt, 4-6 hour job)

If you can get it for around 380, TELL ME please!!! :P

Thanks
Ben

I have to replace my power steering / air conditioning belt as it is split.

The price from Mitsubishi was about $108. I found out from talking to one of the guys in the oarts dept that the belt length is a 6PK 1070.

I rang around other places.

The closest I could find was either

a) 6PK 1065 (5mm shorter)

b) 6PK 1080 (10mm longer)

Acme parts quoted me $26 for the 6PK 1080. This should fit as you can usually adjust the positioning of the wheels that they go around.
