illegal for a P-Plater in SA to drive a car with a turbo?

Hi,
Was just curious to know if a p-plater is banned from driving a car with a turbo in SA?
I have looked on the net, and cant seem to get a straight answer.
If i were to insure a car, but be known as the second driver and my mum being the first driver and owner of the car, would that be legal?
Thanks Jacob

Hello,
i did some research for you
and my results came up with no clear answer
nothing said "NO you cant drive this"
BUT
i did stumble upon this
it is a list of changes the SA gov wants to make
http://www.dtei.sa.gov.au/roadsafety/sa ... ivers_faqs
one of the "changes" includes high powered cars including turbos for under 25's on their P1 license (you can read it yourself)
so (correct me if im wrong guys) it doesnt appear to be a law yet.
dont take my word for it though, as im a NSWer and only familiar with our laws
and with the insurance, ive heard stories of that happening, and the insurance companies asking neighbours and such who drives the car most often, (in the event of a claim, if it seems suss to them) and if they say you do, NOT your mum. i believe you are in deep crap.
once more, just a story ive heard, correct if im wrong
hope i helped

as i said, dont take my word for it, i dont want to be the reason you get your license disqualified now do i

hahah
but its just how it appears.
easiest way i could think of is give the RTA (if you call them there lol, i seriously have no clue) a call and ask

okay i just talked to the the Department of Transport, Energy & Infrastructure in SA, and they have said that a p-plater is able to drive a turbo charged car at the moment, although the legislation that was provided in the article will go thru later in the year.
Once the legislation is put in place, they are not 100% sure that i will get an exception, as i have bought the car before the laws are put in place.
But if i dont get the exception, im sure i could take out the turbo anyway..

Most insurance companies ask who will be the youngest driver of the car. Even if it's your grandma's car, if you're planning on driving it you need to let them know and this will sky rocket the insurance.
Anyway, only companies I could find to insure my fto were RACV, just car insurance and famous insurance.
So so so so so expensive.
Ecar insurance is soooooo cheap! You can get comprehensive insurance for a 300ZX for $400! Throw it under your parents name because they dont ask for the youngest driver etc etc. HOWEVER, they don't insure an FTO because it's classed as a "Grey import" -_-
As for P platers driving turbo vehicles in SA.... No idea...go to your road authority and find out haha

i know that in NSW, if you are already in the "system" as you may call it, the laws from that time are only in effect.
that made no sense, so for a good example.
my friend owns an turbocharged rx8. and he is on his green P's.
it isnt illegal for him, as he got his L's way back in.. oh god.. 2000? and it wasnt a law back then. maybe its the same in SA?
*btw, his reasoning for still being on his green P's is because "it makes me look younger" HAHAHHA!*

Back in the day when I did my test they did not have computers so you had to write the answers on paper and the police took you for your driving test

so your still on your p's?
What happens if you decide to drive your fto interstate to nsw or queersland? You'll get pulled over and booked no doubt.
