lost power

guys my fto tend to lose the voltage power during idle especially when all air cond, light and sound system is on. you can see the voltage needle drop and immediately back up again and sometime the sound system just stop and on again. I suspect it is the alternator but want to make sure with you guys. if it is the alternator anyone know the part number? and also if anyone know the stepper motor part number? my car is gpx by the way. yeah sounds like the alternator, got the same problem ... but thats cause i have a stupidly large sound system lol

sounds pretty normal actually as the increased load on the electrical system will cause volts to drop and make alt work harder.
Had any troubles with battery not holding a charge or batt light coming on on dash even faintly?
First thing i would be doing is checking current alt (just go to local mech or auto sparky they will be able to test for you

i am not sure if it is normal vipfto cos at one stage my sound system just keep switching on and off and also if i put my indicator the volatge needle will go up and down in rhyme with the indicator anyway thanks for the help and i wil ltry to find out the battery charge

yip sounds right with indicator as for stereo maybe you have a bad earth too? BTW how many amps/subs and what power are you running?

Why don't you check the charging voltage before assuming its the alternator??
Could be a weak battery or even bad grounds.

hmmm dont know how many amp or power i am running
but i will try to check the battery voltage first and how do you check the ground?

There are threads here that show you how to determine your alternator charging voltage. Get some sandpaper and clean your battery terminals and terminals. Clean the ground wire from your battery, its under the airbox.
How are your rpms? Are they low when your voltage goes down? Maybe you need to increase it. Should be roughly 800rpm when warm I think.
