To have an acrylic sheet inbetween your tail lights, like so:

Yep it's a factory option but the tint will get you a defected/ fail on a roadworth test.

so it would be ok to put in a custom acrylic sheet not the factory option one?

Yep should be ok.
I think rock_it has a factory one on his car not tinted and I am sure if you ask Dstocks he may even be able to find one for you.

i don't think dstocks meant that the tint of the acrylic was the problem, i think (correct me if i'm wrong) he meant the tint of the tail lights themselves.

yeh I understand the tinted tail lights are illegal, I just wasnt too sure if the sheet itself would be illegal and I think you mean aza lol

Yep you got it with the lights
it's due to the fact that the reflecters are covered and it's harder to see your break lights during the day. If you do a light tint and have the reflectors free of tint it should be fine.

So sumthing like the above pic

Probably legal, can't see any issue with it.
NOTE: It only looks remotely cool in that picture cause the tail lights are tinted also, might not look so crash hot without the tinted tail lights, just my opinion though
