Just wondering if this is a typical problem with ftos, does the steering wheel/column have movement of about a cm left or right if u wiggle the wheel?

the bushes at the steering column mount is broken/missing.
mine did it after a mate and mine spent 2 days bashing the crap out of the steering wheel trying to get it off (broke 3 steering wheel pullers... long story). I just cut a but of rubber up to fit and wedged it in there. good as new ;)

this mount is the closest to the wheel right not the one half way down? mine is like sliding metal on metal i thought tightening the two bolts might help but they were already dead tight. Could anyone show me what it would look like with the bushes in there so i could make some up as im sure there wouldnt be any for sale.

- about this, i noticed lately, when i run the car at about 5-10k's on a straight line, the steering wheel sort of ticks like a clock, altho it doesnt do a full clockwise turn, in the clock's second hand for example, it goes from 0(12:00) to 1ish(12:00:01) then quickly bounces back to 12:00 then repeats depending on how fast the car is running - just to give a clear picture.

now it probably isnt a stuffed wheel alignment as it runs in a straight line with the steering wheel straight, it just does that nudging ticking like motion. would the problem be somewhere in the steering system ?

hm... never noticed this reply lol
um.. mine was the ones close to the steering wheel (i.e. the first mounts you would see if you start at the steering wheel)

can't show you a photo cos mine are not there as i said.

all i did was slice up a couple bits of off cut rubber and wedge them in place.

Look further though, ensure the car isn't running; then do the left right left right thing, if you get clunking from inside the engine bay then it is your steering rack, mine did that for a while :)
