anybody taken the petrol flap off to leave an exposed filler/cap?
i like the look of it - fiat coupe, new mustang etc.. possibly even new mx5 has it...
I now realise it's a bigger job than just ripping the door off - it needs to have a round hole in the body just a bit bigger than the fuel cap

well... the difference between the cars you listed is
1, that they came out of the factory like that, so it won't stand out that much compared to you just taking your fuel flap off.
and
2, they came out of the factory like that and fits into the contour of the body, and just taking your fuel flap off will leave that big gaping hole where it should be, even if you do get a lockable one, so it wont look... lets just say: as good as those cars you mentioned.
if you really want to go for that look, i'd probably suggest fab something up 1 to fill the empty space the fuel flap leaves and 2 to extend the top of the fuel cap out to the same level as the rest of the body.
just my 2cents

i haven't thought this through much have i??
didn't figure that my fuel cap won't run flush with the car - that's mandatory - whatever cap i'm able to get
