Does such an item exist for the fto? Ive been to supercheap, autobarn, bursons.
The guy at Autobarn said "Fto sump gaskets are chemically sealed" aka Gasket Goo, is this correct?

Don't know the answer for certain but very likely. My Supra was all sealant based gaskets. I think you'll find most are these days. The days of the old cork sump gaskets are long gone lol

Alrighty, nah wont use too much goo.
Yay a reason to try a different oil, tappets are so noisy when the engines warm, Might go from a 10w-40 to something a bit thicker if a 20w-40 exists ill choose that but if it doesnt ill go for a 20w-50.
What do u guys reckon?
Ive seen some people on the forum stating that they are using a 0w-30? isnt that a bit thin? Its just that the engine is dead silent when its cold, therefore the oil is at 10weight approx at engine temperature so i should up that to a 20weight? Im assuming that the oil would never reach 50w as we dont have ice cold temperatures here in australia? Or would i have startup issues anyway?

Just stick with what the book reccommends. 10W-40 Semi synth will be fine.
Putting thicker oil in is only masking the problem & potentially accelerating the wear further down the track.
If its tapping, run a flush through the motor on your next oil change.

Im running penrite semi synthetic 10w-40 now also i put that nulon e20 in a while ago and that didnt do anything.
What do you mean by flush?

Ah well in that case you'll need to get them adjusted. By flush, using a product like Nulon E20 is the type of thing I meant.
You could also try running deisel through the motor as well. It seems to work better than some off the shelf products.
With GPX's there are a range of things that could cause tappet noise. There are 12 adjustable lifters that could be out, there are 12 small plastic collets that fit around the tappet tips that stop rattling, these can break off over time - and there are 12 hydraulic lifters that hold the mivec rockers arms on the cam whem not in mivec mode. Much like GR tappets these can gum up & tick. They are also not adjustable & have to be replaced.

Oh okay, id be a bit weary running diesel through my motor, well ill see if i can get my mechanic mate to adjust them for me but im at the stage where i owe him favours now so he might not be willing, how much approx. would a mechanics shop charge for them to be adjusted? and i might as well replace those collets as well, do you know how much they cost? And what would i ask for?
