Just a thought but it would be good to have a "my ride" forum so people can make threads about their car/build and let everyone else see whats going on with their car. I dunno if its just me being lazy but i find it a bit tedious to be searching through the forums to see what people have done to their car.

What do you guys think?

I think having a section for everyone's ride may slow down the site, use excessive bandwidth and congest everything. Just my opinion..

Plus, if we want to post up our rides, we can put them in their respective categories ie. styling, technical, etc.

haha im sure most ppl would be on broadband by now to not worry about lengthy page loads.

but otherwise most forums dont let you attach pics however lets you tag them from other sites such as www.photobucket.com or facebook by using [img] tags.

Yeh i was looking for the section myself and was wondering why ftoaus doesnt have one.

MCA has upload/ attach ability, but we also have our own server, so bit of an exception, but it does add a lot of MB to the site.

Sounds good Bennoz, been wondering for ages why it didn't already come with that code from the get go. :?

We're still in the dark ages with phpbb V2 :(

Apparently version 3 can do it, but no ones yet come up with a ported version that will work in nuke.

Mind you, this site is heavy enough as it is, I tried to do a full online backup the other day & took almost a week of f*cking around to do it. Our gallery is stored on this server & its out to almost 3 gig now :?

we wouldnt need a galleries folder if we had a my rides thread.

and other event pics can be stored on photobucket and linked to a past events thread/section?

Im not changing the gallery. It took months to get it working right & its not just a folder, its an intergrated module with a database... deleting it would kill the site.

There are sections in the gallery for events in each state.

In fact, there's a f*cking members ride section in there already!

Tell you what, now that I've fixed the spam issue, I'll re-enable the comments section in the gallery so you can all chat about everyones rides on each pic.

Not a "my ride" section but a "BUILDS" section were you can post the progress on your car build in which no one else can comment. They have that on some of the forums I am a member of.

My point exactly, we already have a 'Builds' section.

Turbo - for turbo builds
Technical - for N/A builds
Styling - for body related builds
Ice - For Audio/Video builds
Newbies - for newbs to post their rides.

Its fine the way it is :thumleft:

Well in ever single f**ken build section, every single OP has to complain aout the amount spam in their thread, you included ben.

f**k, you can name it whatever you want, i just want a spam free area. If anyone else has ever done research on a paticular project they will agree with me.

Take the turbo thread for example, you take 90% of the content out of there (all the bullshit) and be left easy to find quality information, instead of wading through 32 pages of comments like "Wow cant wait to see this finished" or "are you going to blueprint it".

LOL, can't wait to see reactions to this! :P

What I note some forums do, is have a build thread, and then a chat section FOR that build thread, so you have a tied link between 2 threads.
One to post the content, one to post the crap.

Hmmm.... might do that with MCA :P
But no-ones really building over there anyway... :?

Sounds like we better put an age limit on club members then.... and tell them not to learn anything.... and tell them to not speak unless spoken too.

Haha Ben and Simon, you both are making valid points.

Is there anyway to lock threads so that only the OP can post in it? That would keep Simon happy, while still letting people learn. If they had questions, they could then PM them, or put them in a separate thread.

Just an idea?

yes that can be done but then the person would have to PM one of us to lock and un lockit all the time and they will just get spammed in there PM box with all the same questions
