bout a month ago i started hearing a clicking coming from under my dash. a few members might remember me msgn them scared shitless...

i've found out how the clicking comes about. when i turn on the fan, but have it in demist its fine, but as soon as i change it to fan on face the clicking starts. but if i turn it off without putting it back to demist, the clicking continues(even though the fan is no longer on).

any ideas whats happening under there? its really annoying...

You may have leafs and stuff caught in your vents.

thats the motor that adjust the vents..... its going bad..... or something dropped between arm...

so in layman terms there is a motor that move the vents from windshield, to face, to legs, face & legs etc.... thats the problem.... it adjusts whether or not you use the fans... it will get worst...

I have the same issue in my Lexus IS300 my FTO has not developed that problem yet...

you can remove the glove box by squeezing both sides and lowering it.. you should be able to see the arm, adjust the vents to see the movement... u can try to advance it when its sticking and spry some WD-40 on it....

+1 usually the prob can be the motor (under glovebox) but leaf is number one cause

Pretty common problem. IMO unlikely to be a leaf though unfortunately, it's just the actuator / vent-mover like others have suggested.

I think the solution is pretty pricey as i remember, but someone might be able to offer more information

if it comes to it, i got a replacement, so i'd just need to find someone to swap em.

il see if i can find any leaves. do i have to pull the dash off?

it won't get worse, it just won't get better.

if you don't care much whether you're re-circulating air or not, don't worry about it.
