Been driving with clunks and squeaks coming from the rear of the car took it to the mechs but nothing is wrong. Any ideas??

1. Checked all the bushes and they were ok. Non of them were worned
2. Droplinks were fine too
3. Rear struts were still in a good condition. No leaks
4. Check my springs, and it looked pretty fine.

Ahhh yes. Rattle and squeak hunting. Tis a fun sport. Well, you've checked the good stuff!

Just a few easy ones to check:

Plug your rear seatbelts in. They can rattle around and make quite a surprising bit of noise.

Make sure your rear seats are secure. Along with parcel shelf.

Whip the plastic covers off the sides, in the rear. There are a few things in under there that could possibly have come lose and are rattling around against the frame.

um...

Also check: antenna and rear wiper (if you have them). Fuel cap lid. Boot fittings. Spoiler. Rear lights are tight? Even rear numberplate can move and rattle.

Bump stops on your rear shocks (but that means removing them).

I know they all sound pretty minor, but worth checking before shelling out $ on hunting for something wrong in the suspension.

Have you got poly bushes or rubber back there?

Might want a second opinion on those bushes and droplinks though - much more likely.

Yeah most of the minor stuff have been checked already. I usually drive with my rear seatbelts fastened. It seems to be coming from the back suspension area. Loud clunks and squeaks whenever i go over humps. I still think it is the springs. But I will go check with another mech on the broken swaybar bracket. Thanks guys

Suddenly reminded of the opening scene of Goodfellers with the knocking from the boot.

Checked swaybar brackets yesterday...still not it. Anyone has any other suggestions? The squeaks are not that loud but the clunks n thuds are pretty loud whenever I start to go over a hump or at the end of the downward slope. The squeaks are definately from the springs...done know why tat makes tat sound. I only replaced the front suspension ages ago but not the rear. Does anyone reckon the rear sus has been shot? No leaks or such on the rear suspension though

You 100% sure it's not the droplinks? They make a range of interesting sounds. Bump stop on the shocks could be worn if you still recon it's them.

I had a look at the droplinks it doesnt look worn, but I may be wrong. Is there anything I should look out for for the droplinks to determined if it is stuffed? I'll check out the bumpstops to if it's the problem

Ok finally got it checked and repaired. Here are the items

1. Front sway bar links x 2
2. Rear sway bar links x2
3. Left outer CV boot x1
4. Rear Lower control arm outer bushes x 2

Just for anyone's info...from the outside under the car the bushes were just fine....but when the mech took them out the inside was worn pretty much. Well now the car is running just fine. So peaceful and quite now. Lolz Oh and everything cost 780 including labour.
