No RPM Signal

Anyone experience this problem that their RPM Gauge doesn't work??

Well I have my FTO for 18 months now...

when it came from Japan the RPM Gauge never worked...

I bought an aftermarket gauge thinking the oem is dead and still no rpm....

I hooked it up to the RPM wire behind the cluster panel... nothing...

I tried the RPM signal from the ECU..... nothing....

I tried the coils..... Nothing.....

I then said maybe the aftermarket is busted.... and left it like that...

few months later... my timing belt popped when i was in High RPM...

I replace the engine.... still no RPM.... I replace the ECU still no RPM...

I removed the OEM RPM gauge from the dash hook it up in another car and it was working find all the time i thought it was dead thats why I originally bought the Aftermarket....

Anyone have any clues??? :!: :!: :!:

Yep, lay my left tit on the Ignition Failure Sensor (IFS)

http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m3b0s9p5834

Its located just behind the thermostat housing (the bit the with the radiator cap on it to the right of the engine.)

Bennoz

you telling me this is the reason I have no RPM?

Might I add the car does work fine.... just no RPM....

if you dont shift and it reaches Redline you will head the ECU kicks in,,,

just that i dont have no RPM output....

Yep, this sensor is what sends the rpm signal to the RPM gauge.

+1 what Bennoz said; the guage on both my FTOs didn't work when bought; changed the IFS and voila.
