Hi, i've seen some pictures of FTOs having those dark (blackish) coloured light clusters...

I would really really love to have those. How can i get it done? I heard a friend saying its using stickers or something like that.

Does anyone have any of those stickers? If so, could you sell some of it to me? I'm in brissie.

Thanks...

you could either get it tinted with normal tint film (won't be as dark as you desire) or you can get this spray thingie from Chinatown rice shops... i can't rmember what they're called but if sprayed too dark the cops can defect you for it...

You can buy a spray can that does it. It is called "Night Vision" and is in a small silver can with a picture of a dude in sunglasses on it 8) It is a clear black paint that you spray over the light.

I done it to my lancer and came up perfect. But you really wouldnt want to stuff it up though. You pretty much only have one chance at it, cos you wont be able to spray it clear again!

I didn't realise you could do it with tinting film.

I wonder if anyone spray tints these things professionally, so that you don't stuff it up with the one shot you have if doing it DIY

I believe that sbe8888 has done this to his car, he has sold his car but i think you should still be able to contact him, if you want more info.

In-Short the way he did it was he got vinil stickers and cut holes in the right areas...

Yeah i've done this to my other car as well, if you spay one thin layer at a time then you shouldn't have any problem. You can still clean it up with tubine/menthol sprint.

Thanks for all the reply guys.

I've tried to get those tinting flims and paste them on the light clusters(with soap of coz)... And trust me, its really really difficult. After several attempts, i gave up. I wonder who has done it succesfully. And damm, those films cost me $25, and now they are wasted.

Next, i am probably gonna try to get those spray paint you guys mentioned. One thing i'd like to know is. When i want to remove the clear black paint after a few months... is it possible to do so? If so, how do i do it?

You spray it on the outside!!

And once the paint is dry, there is no way that Turps will make it come off. The paint is specially for lights and is not desgned to come off so easily

Hmm... so will it come off after a few months or not?

Some say yes, some say no. Just in case when i sell the car, the owner dosent like it...

Well i did manage to clean it off with turps, but i guess that depends on how long you left it on the surface before you clean it  They do fade over the yrs but so does car paint.

How long have you got the paint on for before you took them off?
