Battery Indicator

Had a search through FTO Help and the best match I could fine appears to be the exact opposite of what I'm dealing with.

The Battery indicator will glow under certain conditions. It's no where near the same brightness as the other indicators, but you can clearly make out that it's on during the day.

For example, while I've got the air conditioner on, and the stereo as well, the indicator will glow while waiting at a red light and sometimes when cruising at 100kph. Turning off the air con will alleviate the issue, but I do see the light occasionally at idle.

If I remember correctly, the battery gauge at 110kph with stereo and aircon showed 14v and was just below 12v when I stopped (to let the missus catch up ^^). That's pretty rough as I wasn't paying much attention at that stage.

Also, it's a new battery but I'm not sure on the make (replaced by the repairer).

Quick question. dstocks helped me figure out my alternator model (MD317515) and searching through yahoo japan there appears to be FTO alternators with different model numbers.

Do I have to go with the original model or is it possible to use another alternator as long as it was built for a FTO?

I better rephrase that... Can I use any 4pin alternator that was built to be used on a FTO?

Yep. There were a number of alternators used as you say, they all superceded each other as the years went by during production. Even a 4 pin VR4 alternator will work.
