Hey, my trolley jack is leaking oil at the hydraulic shalf and wonder how can i remedy it?

If the oil needs to be replaced, what kind of do you recommend and how to replace it?

Its supposedly a science in itself. Most likely the main seal has gone / or is going. Mine has been leaking like that for years, I never bothered to fix it, just keep topping up the oil. You are supposed to use a proper hydraulic oil like Shell's Tellus, but I just use regular engine oil, works just as well :)

Ahhh, i got myself an $80 jack. The prolift brand (Orange color) from Repco. Bought it cos its orange and it works. Use it for nearly 1year and thought this kind stuff can last for years.
Cant get underside of my ride at the meantime as the jack is dropping slowly which obviously leaking and cannot hold the weight.
engine oil? u sure?

engine oil works fine. maybe a thicker oil won't leak past the seal?? have a look and see if you can tighten a ring that is around the seal. don't forget to use jack stands every time you got the car up off the ground !!!!!

8O you shouldn't be cralling under your car with only a jack holding it up any how. go and get some stands.
