no electrical power

ok, new problem. swapped my stepper into my son's car to see if it was faulty. turned the key to start and it went from "ignition on" with warning lights ok then when i turned it to start there was nothing. everything just blacked out. i then turned it off and tried the lights and there was nothing. no lights, no horn, no emergency flashers, nothing. then like 10 minutes later the alarm beeped and power was back. tried to start again and same thing, no power.
next time i tried i checked the error codes and just got flashing "N" light, like it does in limp mode. im thinking maybe the alarm's immobiliser??
any ideas would be good

What do people do when they having issues with electrical power? Check the fuses! I reckon blown fuse in your engine bay fuses.

was the 1st thing i did. unless there is 1 main fuse that covers the entire system, it would have to be every fuse that was blown. 10 minutes later everything was back online.
im leaning towards the immobiliser.

If power came back on it aint a fuse. Definitly either immobiliser or battery

would the immobiliser shut off power to everything? like even the hazzard lights? i checked the voltage of the battery, it is 12.58 ish volts
is i8a4re like i ate a ferrari?? lol

Also thinking about it, you have been playing around with the car a lot....yes???
You could have had a bad earth or even power wire that was knocked and when fiddling around to try and solve the problem, you could have fixed it without knowing.
I would think that a immobilser wouldnt shut down all pwer, however if it wasnt installed properly then it could have had that effect.
Personally i wouldnt worry about it for the time being, UNLESS it happens again.
Intermittent problems can sometimes be the hardest to find and if it aint doing it now then you may never find it.
Just make sure all connections from battery to vehicle are good.

lol @ "unless it happens again" its dead !!! i called the NRMA to get me started, see if they can figure it out. alarm has played up before, sometimes wont arm / disarm, might be time for a new one.

Ok sorry i must have missed something.
Its dead, i thought you said power came back on again?

nrma road service found a dodgy battery terminal. wires were broken off inside the terminal connector, easy fix !!!
