hi, im new and looking at buying an fto, but, i was told that the fto needs its timing belt changed at around 40,000 ks. doesnt sound right but is this true? if it is, is it only the genuine mitsubishi timing belts that arnt good or is there another reason, is there a better quality belt to use?

any help would be appreciated, thanks heaps.

100,000kms and there aftermarket ones available for around $90 that are just as good as any other belt.
