its a manual gearbox...gpx

its making lots of grindy noises ....when i took it to the mechanic to get my clutch done he told me that it was bearings or something in my gearbox....

whenever i try to shift fast into second from redlining first, 2nd just doesnt engage anymore....its alright under normal driving....just really noisy...been noisy for a while....

if it's noisy then it's definitely a synchro problem.... or you might wanna try a different gearbox oil (which I doubt is the issue) Let us know on the progress of the rebuild and how much it's gonna cost.

on a sidenote, i find it pretty difficult sometimes to get into 2nd under normal driving when the car is cold... anybody getting similar problems?

i find that generally, it doesnt slip into second as easy as the other gears

im gonna try a different manual transmission oil tomorrow, anything you guys can recommend? or any additives?

mine is also getting some noises when the car is cold (noise disappears when i press the clutch in), but ok when the car warms up (im guessing the transmission oil warms up and its ok after that)

Reddex shock proof gearbox oil, i think thats what its called, unique tried it in my car, and its great, iits blue which is cool too, but if anyone has shifting problems _ALWAYS_ try this gearbox oil first before you do anything, it is the sh*t !. Im pretty sure its called reddex shockproof, if you cant find it give unique a call and ask for the Gearbox oil they reccomend. If anyone here has tried motul gearbox oil, change to reddex straight away, cause i tried the motul and its really bad for our gear boxes, i started to get all sorts of problems. I have heard of similar stories other people have had with the motul in the fto gearbox

did you get the light weight, super light weight, or the heavy weight?

im guessing the lightweight for our car, the specs in the manual say 75-85W GL-4 or higher

hey peeps

Ive the same problem with mine.

If i try and shift @ high revs from 2nd  3rd or 2nd  5th
there is a slight crunch. I have the wait for the revs to drop and do it REAL slowly.....

When i First got my car i could go from 2nd  third EASILY, @ any revs. (1st to 2nd has never been an issue as well...)

Does this sound like the gearbox problem or a clutch prob?? :?:

Its quite frustrating.
