I know this is an old thread. But any news on the windscreen? Mine got stone chipped really bad today and there are two 7 cm cracks from the impact point. Worst is its near the border of the glass n O'Brien said I needed a new one costing 425 bucks. Or anyone noe any alternative place to get it done is much appreciated

Are you insured or have roadside assistance with RACV? Quite often you get 1 free windscreen replacement a year with some policies.

Container for packaging and transporting glass sheet(s)
A container is described herein which uses three different types of restraining mechanisms to help secure glass sheets therein so that the glass sheets can be safely transported from one facility (e.g., a manufacturing facility) to a second facility (e.g., a customer facility). The first type of restraining mechanism includes two collapsible retainer bar mechanisms which are connected to one another by a support bar that can be moved so as to secure the major surfaces of the glass sheets. The second type of restraining mechanism includes two side restraints which are used to help secure the two opposing sides of the glass sheets. The third type of restraining mechanism includes two secondary retainer mechanisms each of which has a stopper that is moved to help secure/support the bottom portion of the glass sheets. good call ben...

TNT is by far the best freight company... pretty average rates though.

almost be cheaper to pay for a new one istalled for 600 than buy one for 250 then transport.

Justcar is a sub of AAMI and they are the cheapest (and worst) and therefor dont offer much other than a pretty standard insurance policy

Yeah...but paying 425 is just too much for me at the moment. There is a prospect that Im gonna be made redundant soon...so savin ma cash for other stuff till my tax refund comes in. In the meantime...prolly just wait a bit till the crack gets really bad before changing it...fingers crossed them coppers wont see it n defect ma car

oh I was wondering...is there by any chance the windscreen might be the same as a lancer cause most of the other parts are similar??
