Hi guys,
I am wondering what you need to replace a clutch if some mechanic says you will need to replace your clutch soon.
I am trying to get a clutch disk and a trust bearing.
Is this all I need to replace?
Or do I need some thing else?
Could some body shed some light here please?
Thank you,

when you do your clutch you should change the pressure plate, clutch plate and thrust bearing
If you replace the clutch plate and not the pressure plate, you will usually end up with premature failure of the clutch

yea and sometimes it is actually the pressure plate that can be worn and contributing to the clutch problem.

hey fto12345, did you find out that the funny noises you were getting was from the clutch?
mine might be the same, worst case it could be the gearbox
does anyone know if using dirty transmission oil would cause this? or any additives that might help?
manual transmission oil is only supposed to be changed around 40,000 to 60,000 km from what ive read anyway

when you upgrade/change your clutch, you should upgrade the entire clutch assembly as pointed out by dannyboy...
in my case, the previous owner had only changed the clutch plate and this caused premature wear on mine... so i upgraded the whole lot to the Exedy Hyper heavy duty job and it's working like a dream now.. no weird noises and better pickup...
the only difference is that it's lighter on the left foot and it can be quite difficult to get into 2nd gear sometimes (when the car is cold) - not sure if it's the gearbox oil or what have you though...
because i tend to drive my car pretty hard at times, i don't take chances with gearbox oil so i change them every 15000kms.

you can buy kits which include the bearing, clutch and clutch plate.
I was thinking of rebuilding my gearbox soon, as its getting pretty old ,and i would like a tight new gearbox. What would this involve, i have a mechanic to do it for me, but i need a price for parts, what parts do i need to replace, i know i need new syncromesh, and this is the most expensive bit, but do i have to order this from japan.
If i have a mte who can do all the mechanics for mates rates, is it worth doing, or is the main concern when rebulding a gearbox the parts ?
Also while i got the gearbox out is it worth doing anything else for gains ?? would it be easy to put in an lsd with the gearbox out, and do they usally come with instructions (in english) on how to install?
My car is starting to get old, and I have a friend who can pull my entire engine apart and put it back together, but i dont know what i could do for good increases in performance.
also a little off topic what is an injector service and how often should htey be done ? should the injectors be replaced every so often ??
