Thoughts on Kendo?

Ppl, I have started Kendo recently and am enjoying it a lot. Anyone here done it for any length of time and can shed some light whether it is something that held your attention for a long time?

Seems a lot less complex than other martial arts so far (as in a lot less to learn), but there is so much that needs to be done at the same time that I think it could hold my attention for the long term.

Thoughts from you fine ladies and gentlemen?

Seriously it all depends on what you want out of it.

Some martial arts are just for fitness and are really nothing more. Some are aggressive and are good if you go out looking for fights all time. Some are used purefully for self defensive and some are totally impractical and some just for the olymipics

You have to ask yourself what it is you want to get out of it.

Now days also being an expert in one will not be any good hence why the huge attraction to MMA (mixed martial arts).

Co-ordination and fitness is what I am after. Originally looked into Aikido but TBQH I have broken my wrist too many times to get back into a grappling martial art, I don't wanna undo 6 years of therapy on it really by having some asshole joint lock me.

I looked into Pencak Silat too, but no-one teaches that in NZ any more.

The Katana, I find, is an elegant weapon. Hence why I looked into Kendo. I am not looking for something that will teach me to hurt people, I already have a suspended sentence hanging over my head, my fighting for the fun of it days are long gone...

Yeah aikido rocks. It sounds like you have picked the right one then. However you may still find it gets boring after awhile.
