So apparently i went through a red light ( it was clearly a yellow, and turned red when i was in the middle of the intersection). 3 demerit points + $324 fine. COMPLETE BULLSHIT...i didnt argue cos i was tired from work...but ill tell you what. DOUBLE STANDARDS. You get a different fine and demerit points for the same crime on your full license. RUBBISH.

sorry to hear that mate. I was following my mate home from uni and he was in his work Ute. He did the same thing as you, he had crossed well after the light and I ended up stopping at that light. Turns out some bitch in a cop uniform saw this and decided to get all high and mighty about the whole thing. Lost 3 points and $400 fine.

If you were stopped (or going very slow) when the light turned from green to yellow and then drove out, then yes it is an offence.

Green - Proceed with caution.
Yellow - Stop.
Red - Do not pass GO, do not collect $200.

Thats exactly what the cop said. Cos only 2 cars before me got through when the light turned green, and i made it through on yellow. I know its an offence, and im not arguing that. The point im trying to make is that its bullshit that jus cos your younger you have to face a bigger punishment, then if you were an 'experienced' driver.

That is true, but under many circumstances you have to proceed through the intersection because you cant brake safely or in time. If you start driving through the intersection after stopping or slowing down heaps then your making it obvious that your purposefully disobeying the rules.

The bottom line here is that you ran the red (entering the intersection when the yellow light has 1 second to go till red still qualifies for the fine). Double standards or not, you did the wrong thing man, I know it sucks to lose 3 points but that's besides the point

I don't understand these bullshit threads, the light is Orange for a fuckin' reason... Fair or no fair, if you didn't run the light you wouldn't have been fined.

Green = go

Orange = stop if it is safe (you said it was orange when you went through which means you had time to stop)

Red = Stop

Is it that hard? Too many people die in intersections! 5 minutes more to wait for the next set wouldn't have killed you, instead of bitching about a fine just learn from the experience! Sort your sh*t out, you don't own the f**king road!

Ok...I am not arguing the fact that i got fined.....i KNOW i did the wrong thing so no one has to tell me that. Im just angry at how big the fine is just cos im less experience.

Btw it wasnt a bastard cop....he was very calm and explain everything clearly...i respect that.

Excuse my vent this morning, I got clipped by some c**ts wing mirror when crossing a road this morning then saw this as I got to the office.

If I could have caught the asshole I would have killed her! But my knee is pretty seized up after hitting the ground pretty hard. Whore ran a red while doing makeup for fucks sake!!!
