Sounds like Stepper Motor

perhaps you could finger point the alternator as well... they can cause some odd things to happen when they don't completely fail

Or worst case scenario (like mine) your whole throttle body could be stuffed.

I have never heard of a TB failing...........EVER.
My mechanic reconditioned my stepper motor the other day - still screwed up.
He then replaced stepper motor - still screwed up
Inspected throttle body - said something was amiss (can't remember what he said) and best solution would be to buy new throttle body.

Now you can say you've heard of a throttle body stuffing up :)

You can't JUST recondition or replace a Stepper Motor, they need to be calibrated or they won't work!

Sorry Bro, I dont believe he knows what he is talking about. but thats just my opinion.
Stepper motor's are a throw away item they dont get recond.

He was trying to save me money by cleaning it out and seeing if that helped, rather than just replacing it straight up. Maybe "reconditioned" wasn't the best word to use. But yea, as I said, even the new stepper motor we tried didn't work...

I literally sat there and watched him tinker with different settings and sh*t for like 3 hours so I'm pretty confident he knew what he was talking about.

That proves my point right there. 3 hrs on a stepper motor 8O

Sorry who's car is this?

Dan22 or kl95fto or are you the same person?

If you're referring to the fact that we hijacked this thread.... you started talking to me first!

Lol, well I'd be more than happy for you to take a look at it if you think he is an idiot. I wish I knew more about cars myself, but I don't :( and it was hard enough to even find a mechanic that would touch my car, and he seemed decent enough so yea. As I said, I don't know anything, and I'm not trying to prove anyone wrong, I'm just the guy in the middle who likes to hand over money to people...

Biggest  I have ever seen on here

Tinkering for 3 hours is to make it LOOK like he knew what he was doing, because the owner was standing over him!

I didn't bother reading the entire thread, but I suppose you took it to a mechanic too right? Anything electronic, straight to an auto sparky. Never let a mechanic loose on electrics (and don't fool yourself, Idle problems are always electronic unless there is a leak somewhere, but you can fix that yourself), they just aren't the same field of expertise!
