Got pulled over for a random breath test today on the prospect hwy, Did that and then the cop asked if there were any mods under the hood, I told him other than my uas air filter kit there wasn't anything else. I explained that the heat shield was mostly covering the uas filter. I showed him and he said, because it wasn't boxed in its not really legal. He didn't defect me but told me to install the stock one or get my uas filter boxed in. He was quite a nice about, as he could of fined me for it, but I made the point that the heat shields came as a part of the UAS kit that came with the filter and intake hose.

SO....I'm gonna remove the heat shields and work at making a box for the filter. I'm willing to buy materials and do it myself or get it done somewhere if its not too much. Don't wanna spend more than $100.

i dont think you'll be able to get it done by a por for less then 100... I got quoted 170 ($85 per hour) by a company that works with metal and plastic. I forgot their name

And that was for labour, not materials. BS in my opinion when u can make your own for much less

Your best bet would be to make one out of aluminium and take it to a plastic moulding company and get it made straight from their, labour wont take long as you provide the template

yeah, i think i remember dwayne saying he had templates made for a gpx manual air box but never got the template off him. In any case i'll try put together a template and get some quotes.

Never got round to transferring from metal to cardboard . I still have the metal template.

Hmmm....would you be able to post the template mate? If so that would save me a shitload of time. Of course I'll cover postage and watever. Better yet, could you make it and how much for it made if you could make it?

If not then just the template would be fine.
