Transplant poll

I'm thinking of doing a transplant in my Pathfinder, and it's split between 2 engines...
#1 the Nissan Z18ET single turbo 1.8 4cyl (an import engine, and an old one)
#2 the supercharged 3.8 litre V6 from the commodores
The Z18 is rare and old, and carbie turbo, but i've found one fully rebuilt for $1000. These engines are in the same series of engine that my Pathfinder has (Z24) so it will bolt straight in, but it's a 1.8 litre for a Pathfinder, a mid sized 4WD. Not sure if it will be so reliable over time, dunno if it's going to give me grief later. I think along the lines of 'if i treat it good, it'll treat me good'.
The super 6's are fairly common, lots of parts available, and being a large V6 with a supercharger, they have good torque, broad over the rev range. However, the engine is going to set me back around $2000, the conversion kit about $500, and then there's exhaust mods and other stuff i cant think of, which would take the total bill out to $4000 or more, i'm sure. But reliabilty should be there, being a large capacity 6.
What do you guys think? It currently has a 2.4 litre 4cyl petrol rated at 77kw, its actually quite quick considering its a 4WD powered by a N/A 4cyl... Maybe i should leave it and spend elsewhere. I'm not buying another FTO either!
