Are you looking at moving everything over to the new shell, or using bits off it to repair yours?. In other words, does it need to be completely intact?
Ive got a white shell with no damage to the drivers side. Most of the stuff is gone off it, but the bits you would want for that repair are still there. Im not in Vic though.

dad was thinking...i dunno if this is correct but we take off the whole shell and try to correct the metal pillars oursleves, and since the shell is dagamed, we buy a new shell and put it over the repaired body
would you happen to know any places i could gte a shell in vic?

Any shell you get from a wreckers is likely to be either damaged or a halfcut. Certainly, you have a chance of finding one with the drivers side intact, but you are looking at a huge job to get that swapped over, especially if you dont have the proper equipment to do it properly. You can buy replacement new sills and stuff like that. Id be thinking that would be cheaper and easier than grabbing a whole car. You can certainly drill out spot welds here and there, but trust me, from someone that has dismantled 5 or 6 FTOs now down to the last bolt, you are embarking on a heck of a task.

half cut is literally what it sounds: a car cut in half, normally ppl get them for the engine etc, some times ppl will also want the rear cut for some of the running gear. they are cut this way because of importing laws? <- that part i'm just making up, someone correct me if i'm wrong lol
if you are dead set on giving it a try, good luck

. I have a shell and just looking at it gives me a headache now (and no, you can't have it, but funnily enough i actually bought it and got it carted from Vic lol)
and the dmged shell you get from the wreckers would likely have chasis dmg as well... (that's what writes off a lot cars)

I can get brand new replacement sills and the like, but you would have to know exactly what you were looking for. Sounds like you might have access to the proper gear. Must admit, id be doing what i8AFRE said, but if this has become a project then im certainly in no position to criticise. Im making a ute out of an FTO

.

yea dads dead set on trying to fix it himself and im really keen to help, but he says to find the top outer shell of the car cause hes gonna take that off our one and bang the pillars himself
if u do have a shell, would it be possible to cart it from where you are to vic?

anything is possible. just how much you are willing to spend (it cost me $1k to get mine carted from vic to brisbane).
or if you have a car trailer and the time and car to cart it yourself.

1k was the cheapest ($950 to be exact).
but something from around Vic, NSW, ACT would be much cheaper for you. and half cuts might not do the job you need, since they would be cut on the section that you would be needing

, try local wreckers as i said before a lot of write offs are front end dmg

it's what it sounds like, a shell that rolls lol

basically, no engines and all the popular bits and pieces taken off (you end up with just the shell and wheels, and maybe some bits and pieces)
